For more than 55 years, WO-BE-CO has been at the forefront of empowering women, children and families through mentoring and scholastic support.  We offer competitive scholarships in honor of our co-founders, the late Cardrienne P. Griffin (CPG) and the late James M. Griffin.  The competition and awards are administered by College Bound. 

 

The late Cardrienne P. Griffin (CPG) was a former educator who embodied and embraced high scholastic achievement and gave tireless service to the Baltimore community through numerous service organizations.  The CPG WO-BE-CO scholarship is awarded to eligible female students who embody her values including, high scholastic achievement, compassion, and service to others.

 

The late James M. Griffin (JMG), a civil rights and social justice advocate dedicated his life to ensuring equality in education, housing, and health care.  As founder and owner of his own physical therapy office, he mentored and trained countless physical therapists, encouraging them in their academic and professional pursuits. The JMG WO-BE-CO scholarship is awarded to eligible male students at Dunbar High School. Students interested in pursuing Physical Therapy/related health fields and/or attending his alma mater, Johnson C. Smith are encouraged to apply.
